Strangers for the Second Time

Lost in the midst of the crowd
In the most remote of lands
Her eyes pitted black
Stared at mine

For that instant
We recognized the familiarity
Of what we have lost and died in the past

To find ourselves groping for fragments
Buried too deep to understand
Consoling one another as nothing more
Than strangers for the second time
